I love pregnant women

How would it feel, if you have a headache and expected to – Feel happy about it and enjoy the experience? If this sounds uncomfortable, imagine a mother`s state of mind, when undergoing physical and mental stress post delivering a baby. Women are psyched into the idea of motherhood, that it is the most pleasurable experience. If their natural instincts do not relate that way – without adequate support, the resulting confusion/self-doubt might lead up to depression.

Many might genuinely feel they truly enjoyed and relished motherhood. A mountaineer too enjoys climbing Mount Everest in the harshest conditions.However,it is a choice out of strong self-inclination, with no judgement attached. However, is the choice of motherhood not judged as well, in the same breath?

Our social,cultural and religious paradigm influencing the choice of motherhood, it`s associated professional and family pressures and deep-rooted illogical expectation on how mothers should feel are at the least very unfair. The following article in The New York Times is a good read, which ends with an insightful quote – We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control our reaction to it. There is a one liner in the movie Gone Girl – “America loves pregnant women”. I don’t think that is true, instead feel that – human nature is programmed to love pregnancy, no one really loves pregnant women.
